Monday - Maths Day

Throughout this last academic year we have put a huge focus on raising the profile of maths and celebrating achievements from Reception to Year 6. We have introduced Easi-Maths, which the children can access at home, which reinforces learning from the classroom, helping them to apply their learning to different contexts.

Today we started the day with a whole school interactive assembly followed by every class experience a problem solving workshop.

"The Maths Curse"

Imagine if one day you woke up and all you could see were maths problems EVERYWHERE!  From the moment you opened your eyes, to the time you closed them at the end of the day, maths problems were everywhere. They were on the walls, the doors and the ceiling ...problems, which were just too big for you to solve!

“I wake up at 7.15am and it takes me 10 minutes to get dressed, 15 minutes to eat my breakfast and 1 minute to brush my teeth.

If my bus leaves at 8.00am will I make it on time?”!

This is what exactly happened to Charley Fibonacci. Help him break the maths curse as Wrotham Road become maths problem finders – no problem is too big to imagine!
