Key Stage 2 Music Workshop Day

Gamelan was introduced to all KS2 children today which is a traditional  Indonesian Music ensemble.

A gamelan orchestra usually consists of a number of gongs, drums and metallophones made up of various shapes and sizes. They are commonly made of materials such as bronze, iron and even bamboo.
The Gamelan orchestras originate from Bali and are made up of 3 different sized gongs known as ageng, kempul and kenong. The three metallophones carrying the core melodies include the saron, peking and demung whilst drums and bells are incorporated to maintain the rhythmic flow.
During the workshop several pieces of music were introduced and there were enough instruments for every child to participate during the sessions.

Year 5 Visit To Reception

Year 3

On Friday 28th November Year Three entered a magical world of fairytales as part of a special day linked with our current literacy unit. The children came dressed as their favourite fairytale character and read a range of different books featuring well known traditional characters.

The day had many different elements and each child got to write the recipe for their own magical motion each with it's own weird and wonderful effect ranging from invisibility potions to queue jumping potions.  During the afternoon the classrooms glittered, fizzed and bubbled as children made their own potions to take home. It was a fantastic day and the children were full of amazing ideas throughout!
